9. Osaka, Japan: The Japanese city, which came in 10th place last year, rose to ninth place on the 2024 ranking of the world's most liveable cities.
8. Vancouver, Canada: Vancouver was one of the Canadian cities that saw a decline in its scores for infrastructure, tying for seventh place with an Australian city on this year’s list.
7. Sydney, Australia: Sydney was one of two Australian cities to make it into the top 10, tying for seventh place with Vancouver.
6. Geneva, Switzerland: Western Europe was the best performing region this year, with four cities, including Switzerland’s Geneva, in the top 10.
5. Calgary, Canada: Canada's third-largest city tied with Geneva as the fifth most liveable city in the world.
4. Melbourne, Australia: Australia's Melbourne was one of four Asia-Pacific cities to land a spot in the top 10.
3. Zurich, Switzerland: The highest Swiss city on the list, Zurich scored strongly in the education and health care categories.
2. Copenhagen, Denmark: The Danish capital came in second place once again, achieving top marks for stability, health care, education and infrastructure.
1. Vienna, Austria: Vienna topped the list for the third year in a row, receiving “perfect” scores in four out of the five categories.It’s considered among the most beautiful cities in the world to visit, and it seems that Vienna may also be an unbeatable place to live.
The Austrian city has been crowned the most liveable city in the world yet again in the annual list from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), which was released today.
The EIU, a sister organization to The Economist, ranked 173 cities across the globe on a number of significant factors, including health care, culture and environment, stability, infrastructure and education.
